Welcome

The British Film Festival presented by Palace returns in 2021 for its ninth year with a standout selection of films from the British Isles.

The line-up features thirty one films celebrating the finest filmmakers and acting talent the region has to offer. The 2021 programme includes exquisite performances from favourites including Dame Judi Dench, Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, Olivia Colman, Odessa Young, Colin Firth, Michael Caine and Timothy Spall.

The Opening Night film is the Australian Premiere of THE DUKE, based on the 1961 true story of sixty year-old taxi driver Kempton Bunton who steals Goya's portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London.  Other festival highlights include: the Australian premiere of the highly anticipated BELFAST directed by Kenneth Brannagh,  THE LAST BUS  starring Timothy Spall,  MOTHERING SUNDAY, a romantic period drama starring Olivia Colman and Colin Firth, the crowd pleasing FALLING FOR FIGARO starring Joanna Lumley and a stunning 4K restoration of the classic A CLOCKWORK ORANGE as part of our 7 FROM THE 70s retrospective.

It’s been incredible to witness the rise in popularity of the British Film Festival in recent years. It has grown to become a significant showcase of cinema from the region and we’re looking forward to sharing a stellar 2021 line up with our audience.
